In story, you will always be a best friend

When I needed you, you were there

Shared companion at first

Both of us broken, both needing glue

Secrets told and kept between me and you

Midway we had to hold on tight

As life began to push us apart

We hung in gripping at the life we created together

As long as we possibly could

Although the bond was still broken beyond repair

It all came to an exhaustive end

For our wants/needs no longer aligned

Separated by goals which took us to opposite ends of the spectrum

And though you will be missed in thoughts and memories

Your deeds no longer provide any service

Our friendship had a time and had a place

We have both moved on from this toxic space

No need to hang on to what no longer calls or leads

Can't build sturdy walls, with a sinking foundation

I will always continue to cherish what we shared

Tell of your importance to my survival

But in revival we needed to go

Accepting the fact we were only seasonal
